On Friday, December 9, the seventh and eighth-grade members of the Mayfield Middle School band had the opportunity to perform at the Cleveland Cavaliers game at the Q downtown.

They played on home court during the pre-game right after a group of dancers. The band performed three songs: “Cleveland Rocks,” “Power Rock,” and “Another One Bites the Dust.”

After the quick performance, the band had the chance to relax and watch the game against the Miami Heat. Though the Cavs won, the band had to leave early due to the weather conditions in Cleveland.

The following week on Tuesday, December 13, the band–conducted by Mr. Palermo–had its annual holiday concert at the high school.

Seventh grade, in a uniform consisting of band t-shirts, went first and played songs like “Jingle Bells” and many more.

They were followed by the eighth graders, dressed in white dress shirts and black pants, who performed “Songs of Christmas Cheer,” “Hanukkah,” “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” and “Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer.”

The band also performed a few songs for the school at a holiday assembly on December 16.
