Starbucks released some new summer menu items, including the new spicy refreshers, and the internet has been buzzing with reviews.
First up is spicy dragon fruit refresher, and it’s like a typical dragon fruit refresher but mixed with lemonade and chili powder to add a kick.
Starbucks also decided to do a spicy strawberry refresher, also containing chili powder. The refreshing mix of strawberries with the peppery heat offers a blend of hot and cold at the same time.
In its hot beverage line-up, they also added spicy cream cold foam. Starbucks says it’s a “surprise combination and a welcome surprise. “
Pineapple is a popular fruit to have in the summer. Capitalizing on this, Starbucks decided to make a drink called spicy pineapple refresher. The spicy pineapple refresher has pineapple juice, lime, and of course spicy chili powder blended in with it do have mixed flavors. The new pineapple refresher can also be ordered in its non-spicy version as well a type called Paradise Dream, which blends the pineapple juice and dehydrated pineapple with coconut milk for a creamy drink similar to the “Pink Drink.”
Bringing even more pineapple into the menu, they are also offering a new dessert item– the Pineapple Cloud Cake. The Starbucks website describes it as “Airy cake layered with a lightweight pineapple cream and pineapple spread with whole fruit pieces, all topped with a sweet drizzle.”
Another new dessert item is the Orange cream cream pop. The orange cake pop is made with cream, cake, butter cream, and orange icing. This new cake pop brings a mix of sweet and citrus flavors.
Eighth grader Caleb Livingston, who is a Starbucks fan and daily visitor, has tried the new Summer Berry Refresher as well as the new Summer Skies, which is the same but made with coconut milk. Both feature raspberry flavored boba pearls at the bottom. Caleb liked the Summer Berry Refresher with lemonade better than the coconut milk version, but he said the pearls were a bit too sweet. The summer menu item that he is most looking forward to is the Pineapple Cloud Cake.
Whether you’re intrigued by the new addition of spice to Starbuck’s lineup, curious about the new boba pearls, or salivating over the idea of a citrus-meets-sweet treat, head to Starbucks to form your own opinions on whether these new menu items should just be a seasonal experiment or here to stay.
