Middle School Band to Take the Field with “Pride of Mayfield”
The MMS band seventh and eighth-grade band will be joining the high school band on the field on Thursday, September 28 at 6:30 during the Mayfield vs. Kenston football game. The middle school has been participating in this tradition for eleven years.
Mr. Palermo, Mayfield band director, explained the purpose of the Mayfield band night; he said, “We are always trying to get the Mayfield family together. It’s a great way to get involved, and when the kids get to the high school they have three years of playing experience and two years of being on the field.”
The Mayfield high schoolers seem to tolerate the middle school students for this event; it’s a way for the high schoolers see how well the flood of freshmen band players will be for the upcoming years.
485 students from the middle school and high school will be playing and marching to the fight song during the closing song in half time, and then the whole band, middle schoolers and high schoolers, will march off the field together.
