Danita Harris: An Amazing Anchor on News Channel Five

One of Cleveland’s most inspiring and powerful women is Danita Harris, an anchor on News Channel 5. Danita has endured a lot in her past, but she has become a great example for female adolescents and has contributed to her community and the people around her.

Danita Harris, is a part of many organizations and clubs in her hometown of Cleveland, Ohio. Some of these are the National Council of Negro Women, the Cleveland Rape Crisis Center, and Delta Sigma Theta. Danita Harris has sponsored several events such as Alive on Purpose, which zones in on the relationships of girls and their fathers. According to Newsnet, Danita said “it brought joy to me, to see all of the families happy and taking advantage of such an amazing opportunity.”  Aside from being a thoroughly involved member in the Cleveland  community, Danita is a newscaster for Channel 5 news. Back in 2010, Mrs. Harris was inducted into the Ohio Broadcasters Hall of Fame. In 2004, Danita even received an Emmy for Good Morning Cleveland.

When Danita is not on the air, she is doing one of two things: either running her and her husband’s church or hanging out with her children. Danita and her husband Brad started their church, Fresh Wind Ministries, back in 2015 and, according to many members of the church, they have since discovered a more “spiritually healthy life”. Brad had a daughter from a previous marriage, named Kanecia who Danita cherishes as one of her own. The couple, then, adopted a baby named Chase after they became officially married. According to News5.com, Danita said “spending time with those two are my top favorite hobbies.”

Danita Harris’s inspirational figure makes her a great person to look up to. Any rising journalist can look up to her as their motivation for covering news and local events!
