The Class of 2021’s Last Field Trips at Mayfield Middle School

The Class of 2021s Last Field Trips at Mayfield Middle School

Vince Ferrante, Staff Writer

At the end of the school year, the eighth graders of Mayfield Middle School will be going on field trips, with each trip being different depending on what team you are on. There are three teams per grade at Mayfield Middle, and students are randomly assigned to one at the beginning of the school year. With each team comes 4 main subject teachers: Math, Social Studies, Science, and Language Arts. These teachers will all attend the trip to supervise the students. The three eighth grade teams going on field trips are the Hele team, Ignite team, and Revolution team.

The Hele team will be taking a field trip to see the Guardians Of The Galaxy 2 and will go to Squire’s Castle in the Metroparks to have free time to hang out with their friends and teammates. Students are very excited to go on this trip because these are back to back field trips, which rarely ever happens. These trips go back to when Hele students first got to know each other at the beginning of the year. The team took a field trip to Chapin Forest and participated in all sorts of team bonding activities.

Team Ignite is doing something fun as well. Similar to Hele, they will be going to a park at the end of the school year. Their team is going to a different park, however, and will be spending the day playing and reflecting on their relationships as a team.

Team Revolution is doing something a little different. Their team will be going to play whirlyball and laser tag for their end of the year field trip. They are then going to go to Mayfield’s city park. At the beginning of the year the Revolution team went canoeing for their team bonding trip. This is one of the best ways to get your team to know each other, they said, because in canoeing, you need to know how to communicate.

It will be very hard to say goodbye at the end of the school year, especially since MMS’s eighth graders will hardly see those they leave behind as they move off to high school. The struggles, tests, homework, and studying- all of the things the class of 2021 did as a team- will make these final days some of the most emotional.
