Pop princess, Britney Spears is currently turning international politics inside out. Britney is the cause for the postponing of Israeli’s social democratic and zionist political party. Her concert, which is Britney’s first world tour since 2011 and her first time performing in Israel, clashes with the Israeli Labor Party’s election.

The concert is set to take place at Yarkon Park, which is across the street from the Tel Aviv exhibition grounds where the polling is being held. Citizens were expected to cast their ballot for a new chairperson on July 3; however, they could not compete with the popularity of Britney Spears, which is why they decided to push back voting by one day. The main concerns that prompted this decision was safety and traffic. CNN Labor Party spokesman Liron Zach said, “We couldn’t hire enough security for the election because of the Britney Spears concert on July 3. There would also be a lot of traffic and road blocks that would make it hard for the vote to go ahead”.

Although party official’s concerns were not about voters favoring Britney over the election, the rest of Israel seems to want a piece of Britney. Her ninth and latest album, Glory, was released August 26, 2016, as the 34 year old’s return to pop culture was her most vocally engaging and personal since Britney Jean.

The labor party of Israel maintains the democratic government to increase both Israel’s social and economic well being and promote political stability, therefore strengthening the economy. The current party leader is Isaac Herzog. Established in 1968 by the coming together of Mapai, Ahdut Ha’avodah, and labor Rafi, it is the dominant party with its leaders coming from labor until Menachem Begin’s victory in 1977.

With the election postponed to a more convenient day, it seems that both election and concert are set to go smoothly.
