However, that comes with a bit a bit of risk. Since Android allows apps from third-party sources, it’s easier to accidentally install malware compared to Apple’s more secure Apple store.

Apple’s App Store carefully selects and reviews certain apps before allowing them, which helps improve security and protects users from harmful apps. Samsung offers more options than iPhones, but the open system can expose you to possible security risks if you’re not careful. 

Wyatt, a Costco employee and Android user said he prefers the design of the Android.  “I’ve been using Android my whole life and I know how to stay safe. Plus, nothing wrong has ever happened to me so I trust Samsung a lot.”

When it comes to keeping a phone for a while, iPhones tend to last longer.  Cindy Ross said in one article, “Even a used iPhone from a few years ago is still a viable option,” and also “iPhones are more likely to have better resale value.”

 So, if you are upgrading, you could still get money back for your iPhone rather than a Samsung. 

Hira Zafar, a long-time iPhone user reflected on how her iPhone has held up. “It still runs smoothly but a bit slower from when I first got it but nothing too bad,” she said. “The phone does everything I need it to but the battery [laughs] doesn’t last as long as it used to.” She plans to keep her phone longer as it still works well and “still takes amazing pictures.”

Price is one of the biggest differences between the two brands. iPhones are usually more expensive, but many people think higher cost is worth it for the top-quality and long-lasting features. But, if you’re on a tight budget, Samsung’s Galaxy side offers a “wider range of affordable options” without giving away too many features.

Samsung however, provides regular updates and much more flexibility in its software, but security risks are higher on Android devices, especially when you allow apps from outside resources.
